Playground Safety
Verification of safety standards on playground equipment is required by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Several third-party organizations, such as ASTM, IPEMA and CSA, work to protect children by developing and implementing standards that ensure the safety of kids using play structures.
The CPSC’s Standard F1487 and ASTM’s Standard F2373 are the most widely recognized standards for public playground equipment. Each has its own unique requirements, such as the location of exit regions at slides.
Good surfaces 검증놀이터 for playground equipment use sand, wood chips or synthetic materials that are soft. These materials absorb a child’s fall and prevent them from hurting themselves.
Inspect playgrounds regularly to check for rust, mildew or other damage. This could include a quarterly inspection, an annual inspection or a hands-on check by a specialist.
Routine inspections help to prevent vandalism, minor wear and long-term structural problems. They should be performed by a specialist who does not have a connection with the park operator or manager.
Observe safety features on playground equipment that are often overlooked by parents and children, such as the location of the exit region at slides. These areas should be rounded to keep kids from cutting themselves as they exit the slide.
Supervise young and older kids to make sure they don’t trip or fall on playground equipment. They also need to be watched closely for signs of entrapment, such as clothes or things around their neck getting caught in an object on the playground.
